2017年WBC世界棒球經典賽即將在3月開打，不過屆時正值大聯盟春訓期間，各球團是否放人，成為各國實力的分水嶺。

不過馬林魚隊對於43歲日籍野手鈴木一朗參賽，保持樂觀態度，並強調會全力支持他打。

一朗是日本隊在WBC二連霸的重要精神支柱，小久保裕紀也在今年前往美國跟這些旅美好手會面，當然他也提出希望一朗加入陣中。

一朗完成大聯盟3000安，目前生涯累積4308支安打，對此，馬林魚隊決定放人。

馬林魚隊總管Michael Hill表示：「若我們隊有有球員想參加，就會推薦他去，對於WBC的話題還沒跟他談到，若他想去，我們會全力支援。」



不過一朗在今年8月小久保去找他面談時，他說：「我無法說出真正的想法，這樣也不錯吧。」留下讓人撲朔迷離的答案。
